200 year old saloon made from the insides of a wrecked steamboat
This place has been in St. Genevieve forever- and they have the best onion rings you have ever had. the gigantic hamburgers are delicious and did not come from sysco, but are made there, as is all else. Real actual country food, bona fide, the locals have been coming there since well before the civil war.The inside of it is made with the bar and fixtures taken off a wrecked steamboat. Not so long ago, they finally took out the woodstove and got a furnace, so they could put more tables in. Over 1 block is the Southern Hotel, an antebellum house that is now a bed and breakfast, which is spectacular, walking distance from the Anvil if you have too much beer, and has all the old furniture in it still, which you get to use if you stay there. The breakfasts are legendary. go in the winter, as town is deserted.
