Open Door Ministry will presen t a documentary, ‘Fall from Grace” on Fred Phelps Thursday, March 19 at 7 p.m. in CLC 107-109 United Methodist Church, 204 S. 9th, Columbia, MO
"Fall From Grace" is the story of Pastor Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist Church. The film follows Phelps' transformation from an award-winning civil rights attorney to the pastor of a small church made up mostly of his own family. His extreme interpretations of the Bible have led him to protest gay rights events and funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq.
The Hollywood Reporter calls this film ". . . an extremely restrained and wonderfully comprehensive look at some of the oddest and most hateful people in the Midwest." Fred Phelps’s story was reviewed in Jim’s “Living the Questions” study materials on March 2. It is a documentary that has awakened the interest of people across our nation who want to know m ore about what fuels this kind of hatred. Those who share this interest are invited to attend the presentation.
